Fixed in IE?
Published November 20, 2005
You may wonder why some sites in the gallery are fixed width in Internet Explorer. This happens because Internet Explorer does not support certain CSS 2 properties that allow developers to make robust fluid layouts. Therefore, it is often safer to give Internet Explorer a fixed width layout.
Rest assured that when Internet Explorer 7 launches, it will support the necessary CSS 2 properties and you will see those sites as they were meant to be. However, if you can’t wait that long to enjoy CSS sites like they are meant to be, I recommend the Firefox web browser.

nah. i’ll wait - thanks. cant stand the flickering of content while the page is rendering in ff. not to mention the lack of necessary scroll bars.

Wow, sticking with IE 6 since 1998. IE 7 will blow everyone away with all the new features and CSS support. You will say, why didn’t we have all this 7 years ago? And I will say, we had it, just not in IE. Good thing MS is catching up though.
Oh, and by the way, page flickering is gone in FF 1.5. I’m using the release candidate right now, and the finished version will launch in a few weeks. Guaranteed no page flickering here.
As for scroll bars, I assume you mean styled scrollbars? I wouldn’t consider that “necessary.” More like childish.
