My best advice is that instead of using floats, you give the divs

display:inline;

and then give them enough margin on either side to keep them apart. Then you can apply

text-align:center;

to the wrapping element and they'll be centered on the page while wrapping.

It really depends on the project you are working on; neither is better and you don't want to force yourself to use one method for all cases. It's simply a matter of deciding when you want to make something scale and be flexible; I wanted that for my blog (http://www.christianmontoya.com), so it would be easy to read on small screens and still take advantage of the available space on large screens. I've done the same with a few other projects, but I've also done projects that were fixed width.

This site just exists as a resource for when you do want to make an elastic site, and even if you don't need to, it can be fun (or painful)! It's always worth a try.

srinivas420, I am not sure exactly what you are looking for, but usually to make something fill the entire window you must apply height:100% to both html and body, then to whatever elements you have in the page.

My take on the matter is that in any layout I can combine elastic and liquid widths to ensure that my layout grows to the full width of the viewport and then does not grow past that. When you use the zoom feature in IE 7 or Opera, if you zoom to far in you can't see the whole width of the site. I prefer to have a layout sort of "zoom" as I increase text size than to use the zoom feature of a browser; that's one thing I don't find very useful at all.
